Recording of a Figshare webinar held on January 23, 2024. Presented by Mark Hahnel, Figshare Founder and Andrew Mckenna-Foster, Figshare Product Specialist.

Figshare now provides repository infrastructure to over 150 organizations worldwide, across 22 countries.

This webinar discusses how the Figshare repository platform has evolved from its start as a data-sharing platform for researchers to the full institutional repository platform it is today and how this fits into Figshare’s vision for the future of repositories.

We showcase how and why Figshare added functionality to:

  • Support a huge variety of diverse research outputs
  • Integrate effectively and efficiently with research management workflows
  • Reduce the administrative burden of research management for both library teams and researchers themselves
  • Ensure compliance with a growing number of funder and publisher open research policies

We heard from Figshare Founder, Mark Hahnel and Product Specialist Andrew Mckenna-Foster, as they talked us through the evolution of Figshare and its journey to becoming the repository of choice for institutions looking to share, showcase and manage their research effectively.
